Not enough time. This was something I always told myself as I would sit on the couch and watch another afternoon go by, without taking any action. It was about 10 years ago when a steady diet of big lunches, happy hours, and constant business outings led me to be the heaviest I had ever been in my life. I remember wondering how I got to where I was, and not having any clue how to get back to being motivated to hit the gym and get back to a routine. It wasn’t until a friend of mine told me about a gym where you show up at a certain time, lift weights, and get some killer cardio in all within an hour! He of course was talking about CrossFit, and from that day my life has changed. From then on, all I needed to do was carve out 60 minutes of my day, JUST SHOW UP, and then let the coaching and community take over! The next thing you know, the class is done, you are full of sweat, and you feel the sense of accomplishment (and fatigue!) that you have completed your task for the day. My life has only gotten busier with a wife, one year old son, and a job that requires a lot of travel, but I still ALWAYS find time to get in the gym. At 35 years old, I can say that I am more fit in the past 10 years than I had been in my previous 25 years! Take time for yourself, set a goal, and just show up. The coaches and community will take care of the rest!
